Whiteout Survival Bear Trap guide: heroes, joiners and troop ratio
Rally leaders use their three strongest heroes (Jeronimo, Molly and Bahiti at 20/30/50 for Gen 1). Joiners send Jessie, Jasser, Seo-yoon or Jeronimo in the first slot with about 10% infantry, 30% lancers and 60% marksmen.

Rally leaders: heroes and formation
Rally leaders use all three heroes' expedition skills, so lead with your three strongest. Leaders should place their cities as close to the trap as possible to fit in the most rallies in 30 minutes.
| Generation | Heroes | Formation | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gen 1 | 20 / 30 / 50 | Best Gen 1 lineup. Jeronimo's base stats favour infantry, so keep a balanced formation with slightly more marksmen. | |
| Gen 1 | 20 / 40 / 40 | If you don't have Jeronimo yet. | |
| Gen 1 (F2P) | 20 / 20 / 60 | Always lead with your three best heroes. | |
| Gen 2 | 20 / 30 / 50 | Alonso's exclusive weapon adds a lot of damage. Send very few infantry. | |
| Gen 2 | 20 / 30 / 50 | Alternative Gen 2 lineup. | |
| Gen 2 (F2P) | 20 / 20 / 60 | No free hero with an attack exclusive weapon yet, so lean on marksmen. |
Joiners: the first hero is all that counts
When you join a rally, the game only uses the first expedition skill of the hero in your leftmost slot. Your other two heroes add nothing. The rally then keeps the four highest-level joiner skills, so a level 3 skill can get pushed out by someone else's level 5.
| Joiner hero (first slot) | First expedition skill |
|---|---|
| Damage Up 5–25% | |
| Damage Up 5–25% | |
| Attack Up 5–25% | |
| Damage Up 5–25% |
Use only one of these heroes per rally you join. If you've run out of them but still have troops, join with no heroes so all your troops go in. Send about 10% infantry, 30% lancers and 60% marksmen, which is much better than the default 34/33/33.

Why mixing Jessie and Seo-yoon wins
Jessie, Jasser and Jeronimo raise damage, which is a final multiplier. Seo-yoon raises attack, which feeds into the damage formula, so the two multiply each other instead of adding up. With four joiner slots, two damage skills and two attack skills give 1.5 × 1.5 = 2.25×, against 2.0× for four damage skills. The wiki says that's like getting a fifth joiner for free.
Step by step for your alliance
- Seat the strongest leaders closest to the trap. If your R4 asks you to move back a row, it's to fit more damage in.
- Leaders open rallies with their best three heroes at 20/30/50 (or the F2P ratio above).
- Joiners pick one joiner hero for the first slot and set 10/30/60.
- Leaders check the joiners. Tap the rally, then the yellow flag on the right, to see the four joiner skills and their levels.
- Keep going for the full 30 minutes. More rallies means more damage and better rewards.

Common mistakes
- Joining with your strongest hero in the first slot instead of a joiner hero. Only that slot's first skill counts.
- Putting Jessie and Jasser in the same march. Only the first one does anything.
- Levelling a joiner's other skills first. Only the first expedition skill matters for joining, so take it to level 5.
- Sending 34/33/33. A marksman-heavy ratio deals noticeably more damage.

FAQ
What is the best troop ratio for Bear Trap?
For joiners in Gen 1 and Gen 2, the official wiki suggests 10% infantry, 30% lancers and 60% marksmen. Rally leaders use 20/30/50 with Jeronimo, or 20/40/40 with Natalia.
Who is the best Bear Trap joiner?
Jessie, Jasser, Seo-yoon or Jeronimo in your first hero slot. Only the first hero's first expedition skill counts when you join a rally.
Why does my joiner hero not count?
A rally uses only the four highest-level joiner skills. If your hero's skill is lower than other joiners', it gets replaced.
Is it better to send two Jessies or a Jessie and a Seo-yoon?
Mix them. Jessie raises damage and Seo-yoon raises attack, which multiply each other. Two of each gives about a 2.25x boost, against 2.0x from four Jessies.
