How to prepare at Town Hall 18

General advice, not based on any TH19 details.

  • Use Hammer Jam. Until 15 November upgrades are 50% cheaper and faster, so start your longest upgrades now.
  • Keep the Laboratory busy. Research usually takes longest, so an idle Laboratory is the easiest time to lose.
  • Fill your storages. A new Town Hall upgrade and its new buildings will need resources the day it lands.
  • Finish the last TH18 Challenge (9 to 15 November) while you still can.
  • Plan what is left with the upgrade planner and see our upgrade priority guide.

How far behind are you? Town Hall 18 in numbers

From a maxed Town Hall 17, maxing Town Hall 18 takes 1336d 22h of building work and 360d of hero upgrades, shared between your builders, plus 751d 18h in the Laboratory. It costs about 5.25B Gold (most of it walls), 1.55B Elixir and 26.9M Dark Elixir. These are full prices from the game files, before Hammer Jam or Gold Pass discounts.

If you are still a long way from maxed, don't panic. Upgrades carry over to Town Hall 19, and nothing forces you to upgrade the Town Hall the day it comes out. Many players stay at TH18 for a few weeks, finish their heroes, and move up with a stronger army. The one thing to avoid is upgrading the Town Hall with heroes far behind, because matchmaking and war weight lean heavily on offence.
