Your 6th builder is B.O.B. Upgrade the B.O.B Control in the Builder Base (unlocked at Builder Hall 9) to level 5 by finishing four tasks, and B.O.B's Hut appears in your home village. You can't buy it with Gems.

How the 6th builder works
Your first five builders are Builder's Huts. You start with two, and the 3rd, 4th and 5th cost 500, 1,000 and 2,000 Gems. The sixth is different. B.O.B's Hut was added on 15 May 2023, replacing the old Master Builder's Hut, and the only way to get it is to free B.O.B in the Builder Base.
That happens through the B.O.B Control, a building you unlock at Builder Hall 9. Upgrading it costs no resources and takes no time. Each of its four upgrades has one task attached, and when you finish all four, the B.O.B Control reaches level 5 and B.O.B moves to your home village as a full sixth builder.
All four B.O.B Control tasks
| # | Task | What it needs | Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Gear up a Cannon, an Archer Tower and a Mortar in your home village | Home village: Cannon level 7, Archer Tower level 10, Mortar level 8. Builder Base: Double Cannon level 4, Archer Tower level 6, Multi Mortar level 8. | Only the start of each gear-up counts. The Mortar gear-up takes 14 days, so start it first. |
| 2 | Upgrade any Builder Base troop to level 18 | Star Laboratory level 9 | Put every Star Lab upgrade into one troop until it hits 18. |
| 3 | Upgrade any Builder Base defence to level 9 | Builder Hall 9 defences | O.T.T.O's Outpost, traps and walls don't count. |
| 4 | Get the Battle Machine and Battle Copter to a combined level of 45 | Both heroes unlocked | Any split works, for example 23 + 22. This is usually the slowest task. |
From the Clash of Clans Wiki's B.O.B Control page. The tasks can be worked on in any order, but the B.O.B Control upgrades one level at a time.
Fastest order, step by step
- Get to Builder Hall 9. The B.O.B Control appears there. Upgrade the Builder Base defences and heroes on the way, because they count towards tasks 3 and 4.
- Start the gear-ups early. You need a level 8 Mortar at home (Town Hall 10) and a level 8 Multi Mortar in the Builder Base. The Mortar gear-up runs for 14 days, but the task completes as soon as all three gear-ups have started.
- Pick one Builder Base troop and focus on it. Getting a single troop to level 18 is much faster than spreading Star Laboratory time. Many players use the Baby Dragon or Night Witch because they're useful in Builder Base attacks anyway.
- Push one defence to level 9. The Multi Mortar is a common pick because it's already part of task 1.
- Grind the two heroes to 45 combined. Hero upgrades are the longest chain here, so keep a Builder Base builder on them whenever possible. Use the Clock Tower every time it's ready.
- Claim B.O.B. Finishing the fourth task upgrades the B.O.B Control to level 5 and unlocks B.O.B's Hut in your home village.

How long it takes
The Clash of Clans Wiki estimates about three months for a free-to-play player who focuses on it. Most of that time goes into the Battle Machine and Battle Copter levels and the Star Laboratory. If you are still at Town Hall 9, you can do the Builder Base parts first and finish the gear-up task after reaching Town Hall 10.
Once B.O.B is free, plan your home village around six builders. Our upgrade planner lets you set your builder count, and the upgrade priority guide covers what to give the extra builder first.
Common mistakes
- Saving Gems for the 6th builder. You can't buy it, so put Gems into the 3rd, 4th and 5th Builder's Huts instead.
- Splitting Star Laboratory time across many troops. Only one troop needs to reach level 18.
- Leaving the Mortar until last. It needs Town Hall 10, so if you're at Town Hall 9, the gear-up task is the one that blocks you.
- Counting walls or traps for the defence task. Only real defences count, and O.T.T.O's Outpost doesn't either.
- Letting the Clock Tower sit unused. It speeds up the Builder Base, and the hero task is the slowest of the four.

FAQ
Can you buy the 6th builder in Clash of Clans?
No. B.O.B's Hut is the only builder hut that can't be bought with Gems or in a Builder Pack. You earn it by upgrading the B.O.B Control in the Builder Base to level 5.
What Town Hall do you need for the 6th builder?
Town Hall 10 at the earliest. One B.O.B Control task needs a level 8 Mortar in your home village, and level 8 Mortars need Town Hall 10.
How long does it take to get the 6th builder?
The Clash of Clans Wiki puts it at about three months for a free-to-play player who focuses on it. The Battle Machine and Battle Copter levels are usually the slowest part.
Can B.O.B's Hut be upgraded?
No. It has no levels and no turret, so B.O.B never becomes a Battle Builder like the other five.
