How to unlock brawlers in Brawl Stars with Credits

Collect Credits until you can afford the next rarity in the Brawler Blast, then pick off targets until a brawler is left. A Rare costs 160 Credits and an Ultra Legendary 5,500. Gems and Brawler Keys can unlock one brawler you choose, but you miss the Blast's bonus upgrades.

How Brawler Blast works

Since September 2026, Credits unlock brawlers through the Brawler Blast, which replaced the old Starr Road. Rarities come up in a set order. You can see the current one and the next two on the left of the brawler screen. When you've collected enough Credits for that rarity, you enter a target range with cut-outs of up to ten brawlers you don't own yet.

Each tap knocks out a random target, and each target has a chance to drop Gem Fragments (65.01% none, 29.84% one, 3.57% two, 1.14% three and 0.44% four). The Blast can stop with one to four brawlers left. Half the time you'll get a choice between the survivors: two choices 57.14% of the time, three 28.57% and four 14.29%.

What Gem Fragments buy

  • 1 fragment: +1 Power Level
  • 2 fragments: +2 Power Levels, a random Gadget or a random Gear
  • 3 fragments: +3 Power Levels or a random Star Power
  • 4 fragments: +4 Power Levels, a Hypercharge or a random Buffie

Each Blast gives at most one Gadget, one Star Power, one Hypercharge and one Buffie.

Gems and Brawler Keys unlock a brawler you pick straight away, but you don't get the Blast's bonus Power Levels or upgrades. You can also use Gems to top up the last few Credits of a Blast (about 5.4–5.5 Credits per Gem).

Where to get Credits

  • Starr Drops. Rare drops can give 10 Credits, Super Rare 30 and Epic or Mythic 150. Mythic and Legendary drops can also give a brawler directly.
  • Brawl Pass tiers and Quests.
  • Trophy Road rewards as you climb.
  • Daily Streak and Challenges.
  • The Shop, in daily and event offers.

Tips for unlocking the brawlers you want

  1. Let Credits do the work for most brawlers. A Blast unlock usually comes with free Power Levels or even a Gadget or Star Power, which saves Coins and Power Points later (see the upgrade calculator).
  2. Save Gems and Keys for one specific brawler you need now, such as a new meta pick or a brawler for a mode you play. Check the tier list first.
  3. Use Gems to finish a Blast you're close to, not to buy whole brawlers at random.
  4. Don't worry about overflow. Once you own every brawler, each Credit counts as one Fame point.

Common mistakes

  • Buying a brawler with Gems right before a Blast would have given it free with bonus upgrades.
  • Spending Brawler Keys on Epics. They cost only 1 Key, but Keys go further on Legendary and Ultra brawlers (4 and 6 Keys).
  • Expecting to pick every brawler. The Blast's choice only happens half the time.

How many Credits is a Legendary brawler?

3,800 Credits in the Brawler Blast. Unlocking one directly costs 699 Gems or 4 Brawler Keys instead.

Can you choose which brawler you get?

Sometimes. Half of all Blasts end with a choice of two to four brawlers. The other half give you the last brawler standing.

What are Gem Fragments in the Brawler Blast?

Some targets drop Gem Fragments, which buy upgrades for the brawler you unlock: Power Levels, a Gadget, Gear, Star Power, Hypercharge or Buffie, depending on how many you collect.

What happens to Credits after you unlock every brawler?

They go into Fame, a cosmetic ranking system. Each Credit counts as one Fame point.
